What’s scary about an anxiety disorder phobia such as being around spiders, flying on a plane or fear of heights is the intense paralysis that can overcome someone.

Keep in mind that the panic feelings are often about anticipating the situation and may not occur in the situation itself. Many people will avoid the situation or object of the anxiety since the thought itself of it occuring can create shortness of breath, fear of losing control, profuse sweating and a racing heart. Even children can have an anxiety disorder phobia including seeing a clown at a circus or fear of a storm at day camp.
